Actually they've had mITX boards which support quads and C2D's for a little while now. They were based on the 965 chipset, and primarily for industrial applications. This new one has much improved audio and video.

I too wish AMD had released the DTX boards...

Where else can you place them?

The controller is the Southbridge and its a mITX mobo. You can't place them much futher away without adding another PCB layer (and a lot of cost).

intel wants to compete the market place from via of small forms mobo

Drop in any Core 2 processor (even a single core Celeron) and you can play anything in 1080p.
