Would love one of these things for very tight squeezes or even a HTPC...Would look great next to, say, a book

I guess you haven't kept up-to-date with onboard video... There will be some huge advances with onboard video this year. AMD just launched the 780G. This 500MHz integrated video scores 1500 3DMark06 at stock. It can overclock to around 1200MHz and score over 3000 in 3DMark06. NVIDIA will be releasing the 8200/8300 soon. Intel has the G45. All will support 1080p hardware decoding and seem to be pretty decent. Oh, NVIDIA and AMD will include onboard video on virtually all upcoming motherboards.

A 3Dmark06 score of 3000 can play older games perfectly fine. Wouldn't you agree?

I guess you haven't read up on intel and their IGPs. The x4500 that will come with this board is just going to be a x3100 with a slightly different clock and 10 SPs instead of 8. The x3100 scores around 500 in 3dmark 06, so the x4500 won't be that much better. And they say DX10, but I don't really believe that, considering that their current lineup hardly qualifies for DX9.0c standards.

I'd love to stick one of these on a Scythe orochi and a q6600

It's for this reason that I'm considering Via for a tiny build. By the time this is released, Via's Centaur CPU should be out. They're also designing 16 unified shader DX10 IGPs w/ 256MB of GDDR2/3. Not the best system in the world, but the whole thing should run off ~20 watts - and you can't say that for anything Intel makes.

Centaur CPUs look promising...if the rumours are true, then they'll be more efficient than penryn by a significant margin - although they run at a lower clockspeed, negating any performance advantage. Still, for a 2 watt CPU, penryn performance and a passive heatsink is pretty good!
