What do you mean? I run an old school Pentium M 1.3GHz 130nm in my laptop. And that thing runs really cool even at full load.

I'd be getting one right away and putting it a hollowed out gamecube with a q6600, so I'd have a gamecube that comes somewhat close to the 360 in terms of power!
True, but VIA seems pretty confident in their CPU's performance. I know companies like AMD claim their new architectures to have way better performance...but VIA's estimates are so insanely high that I find it unbelievable that they'd stake their reputation on it unless they were sure they could get close.

One of their engineers said that their new FPU could boost performance of certain apps up to 400% over the C7-D; he estimated an average 200-250% gain. If you're going off ops per clock, that catches VIA right up to and beyond the Penryn.

Atom is also an In-Order processor, which makes it vastly less efficient than a C2D. VIA has pulled out-of-order execution out of a hat for the first time, which should give them yet more performance gains.

And this is all while keeping power consumption roughly equal. I just don't see a reason to pick Intel at all for car PCs or energy efficient systems....for the first time in a decade, it appears VIA will be the performance, energy, price, and size leader. Shocking.

There is one possible reason..... price. Currently, Intel destroys VIA in price/performance in the mITX formfactor.

To answer most of your questions: (1) a fridge cannot cool a PC (2) 64-bit OS for over 3.4GB (3) If a PCIe card fits, it should work (4) Resolution, not screen size (5) If you have a question, it is not news (6) Report, not respond to Spam (7) Single-Rail/Non-Modular PSUs are not always better than Multi-Rail/Modular (8) Sequential does not matter as much as random for OS drives

Okay, I suppose price will be the big factor then.

But VIA has proven they can make cheap parts; look at the gPC...if their new stuff is more expensive, I guess it's because they have a smaller sales volume, and want enough money for R&D.

Aye, you guys need to read up on CarPC's.

It won't start your car on fire. I'm using a Northwood P4 1.8GHz in my car in a custom MDF case. It's been in there through sub zero up to near 100F heat and never skipped a beat.

Also, it doesn't kill your battery because you get shut down/start up controllers to automate the process.

Hope I educated some folks today.

I want to but it is more work than what I get out of it IMO . . . and yes I have done my research @ mp3car.com, mini-itx.com and other places.
