Although Intel has not yet officially announced its high-end X48 chipset, some first-tier motherboard makers started shipping boards in small volumes a few days ago. Mass shipping will start in the middle of March, according to sources in the channel.
Asustek Computer and Gigabyte Technology both started shipping the motherboards this week.

Just in time too, The Egg has not only run out of the Maximus Formula,
(It was listed as normal -Out of Stock)
Yesterday they changed it to Discontinued Item and today the listing is gone completely

Just when I thought "not gonna hold out for the Rampage -They'll shaft us with huge $$$"
-and was especially ready to pull the trigger, (now that the supersecret Maximus-->Rampage BIOS hack has been "guinea-pigged" a few times)
Now, no more Maximus

I wonder how much the Egg's gonna be asking for the Rampage?
$320ish like the SIIF?
Cheers

Very simple, don't get ASUS, don't get ripped off for your motherboard.

X48 seems a lot more attractive than it did since it was revealed that it is a die shrunk X38 (90nm vs 65nm). Should perform a lot better.

I thought people would be done buying overprice MB's from ASUS...

DFI
Gigabyte
Abit
MSI

all make great boards for much more reasonable prices than A$U$. Hell, this Abit I have now is by FAR the best MB I have ever owned. 3 months ago, I would have never bought anything but A$U$ but the 680i fiasco made me have to look elsewhere. Thank God I did because their prices are atrocious.
