id try it, if it worked, coat a 480GTX with it.

So when you put thermal paste on your cpu you're actually insulating it?

Everyone knows that if you heat iron up enough it gets "red hot", which is actually the metal giving off red wavelengths of light(electromagentic waves). If you heat this up enough it gets "infared hot", or gives off electromagnetic waves of a different (infared) frequency. Thus it transforms temperature energy to electromagnetic energy(cooling the heatsink.)

At least that is what it is supposed to do, 10% seems excessive.(It probably works, just at .01% or so.)
everything radiates off heat energy in form of electromagentic radiation except at absolute zero and there is no transformation as such.it is probably implied that this thing can radiate better than its competitors and thus cool better, but 10% more cooling claim looks like bs.

The thermal paste is supposed to fill in the gaps. If you put too much of it on, then you are essentially insulating the CPU. So, I don't think what DuckieHo said was wrong.

My thoughts exactly.

But, Duckie's right, this is clearly bogus. I mean, maybe it would work if it acted as a catalyist in some reaction between the heatsink and the air in which heat was removed. But that isn't what's happening here; we've got convection not a chemical reaction. So unless it has precisely the same thermal conductivity of the heatsink and drastically increases the surface area, this is a scam.

I never said it would work good, I was just trying to explain the theory behind why it could work.

Convection and conduction are far far faaaaaaaaaaar superior method (which what HS rely on).
You have no way of knowing the thermal conductivity of the dried film. You are making the assumption that this junk has a very low thermal conductivity, and since this stuff is designed to go on heat sinks, I would think the engineers behind it would be smarter than that. If the thermal conductivity of the dried film is more than the conductivity of your aluminum fins on your heatsink, it would increase the amount of convection by being easier to get the heat into the air. (Picture fins made out of silver instead of aluminum.)

Radiation is worse than convection and conduction in certain very limited circumstances, but not as a general rule. It depends where the heat is coming from, going to, what material it is traveling through, air currents, ect.

I am glad to see a company finally trying to think outside the box for once.
