I don't really see how this could work, boot times are inconvenient but hardly require booting with limited functionality, my system takes around 15 seconds to be fully loaded from when I power on.
I can wait, and it's not like you really need to turn off the pc. ![]()

That's amazing but it isn't a very graphical interface the first boot up screen. Where can you access you're saved files?
Word processing? It's still amazing. Blank

Stand-by does not count. The power is not off to the RAM or Mobo with that mode. I do use Hibernate alot though. It boots faster then a cold boot, and nothing (no technicalities please) is powered.

Add too many functions to this and it woo will become slow. They need to make sure it remains fast or it will be pointless.

I'm patient enough to wait 30 seconds tops while my PC boots... Seriously in 30 seconds you can't even brush your teeth, comb your hair, or even tie your shoes...
Who cannot find anything to do during the 30 seconds after they hit the power button? |

![]() Must have a nice BIOS. My Windows XP only takes ~6 seconds to boot(Boot menu-> Desktop); technically it takes ~3 seconds to get to the desktop, and then there's another 3 where it does some stuff before I can run programs. But before that, I have to wait ~20+ seconds for the BIOS crud. ![]()

Pretty niffty idea, but honestly, waiting for a whole 20 seconds, doesn't exactly bother me very much.
