jealous... Mine takes about 1-2 minutes, maybe more. Windows is about a minute by itself, and bios takes anywhere from 15 to 40 seconds...

Mine takes about 2 mins to boot then another 5 mins to log in and load background programs.
But I almost never shut down. Only time I do is after updates since the annoying popup insists on reminding me every 4 hours.

ummm.. good for them? My Ubuntu install takes 12 seconds from boot to desktop, and that is mostly the POST.... even Vista boots in 24 seconds.

Lol at these ppl...

Instant booting cant happen untill

1. we can customize the time it takes to see a POST screen...maybe down to 1 sec?
2. Cut the time it takes for the operating system to read files from the disk during boot... like loading RAID / HDD drivers first thing
3. HDD's just take too long to load its the bottle neck of any and every system

In the 780i beta bios, once you turn off all the unnecessary stuff it boots fairly quickly, the rest is because WD raptors are really good drives.

I think they're hyped to some extent, but there's definitely noticeable improvement to starting up.

Very nice. 15 seconds including POST is really quite fast!

I'm interested in LinuxBIOS...oh wait, they changed the project name to coreboot.
