The Sapphire 3850 and XFX 8800GS used in the tests were worth about the same, within $15 I'd say, when the test was conducted. It's still about the same now. While one is stock and one is overclocked, the price for each is the same. Obviously you pay a premium for the overclocked card that most OCN users would not like to pay since we can do it ourselves.

so I think the point is moot, it's got damn near as much clock headroom as the 3870 but it's 2/3rds the price.
Interesting, but i've yet too see someone that went over 800Mhz on stock.
the most i've heard of from pll was 700-750 on stock max b4 artifacts.

My bro's 3850 256mb goes to 850/1050 stable on stock cooler and that gets almost 12k 3dmark06...

Yeah, you are, the guy only asked for overclocked Nvidia reviews, not overclocked 8800gs reviews.

I don't think I ever claimed to be on-topic, I simply made a comment about review sites, which you guys decided to take offense to.

Oh and heres one of those typical reviews, comparing an 8800GS with a 130Mhz core oc to the stock 256mb HD 3850, even though price wise its closer to the 512mb.
Thanks man

Wow, it would be awesome if you guys actually read the article and not let your fan boy tendencies take over.

The only "owning" ATI did in this article was for the AGP categories where ATI was rated best value in all low, mid and high price points. In the 9 PCI-E price points, Nvidia was deemed the best value or tied for best value in all but two categories ($160 and $170). I think they broke up the price gaps between cards far too much though, seemed to just be pulling hairs.

Check out the last page of the article where they group similar cards for performance and cost: http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/03/...ics/page8.html

anyone else notice how the best card for ~$170 is a 3850 256MB and the best card for ~$160 is a 3850 512MB?

Well the choice then ends up as green or red. I choose red cause i tend to support the loosing side.. and no im not an "ATI fanboy", i'm a supporter of ATI, since nvidia is dominating too much.

My card is the best!!! I'm still holding onto this 1950 pro even though I want a 3870, my pro is enough to let me hold off and get a PS3 instead. And to think I got mine for $120 brand new in June for the egg!

Pretty strange from someone who owns a Core 2 Quad chip.
