Yea but anyone that is willing to go the multicore route would be better off with a intel quad core processor like the Q6600 TBH.
Not everyone has enough money to use the over expensive intel quads, some people live on a tight budget

Ahahahahahaha! This is hilarious! Intel is walking on AMD with these Core 2 processors...I had higher hopes for the X3 than this...they definitely need to find some higher clock speeds pretty quick to keep up with the mid-high end E8400 Core 2's. I'm talking 3Ghz stock speeds or better.
Fool, architecture not clock speed, also i'll say it again - the E8200 is the C2D's 2nd/3rd revision, this is the tri-cores first, infact - compare it to something like the E2180, one of intels first dual core

Rather than comparing their brand new dual core, to a highly modified, top of the line dual core - thats called biased

Dual core C2Ds perform EXACTLY THE SAME as quad core C2Qs in Crysis. sorry, so these tri-cores are going to be better in every app that can utilize at least 3 cores, and they will be slightly worse in those that can't.

http://www.expreview.com/news/hard/2...0830d6602.html

and keep in mind, the OPs source site uses three procs that are higher clocked than the X3, the only one in the tests its really comparable to is the E4500, because its the closest in clock speed.

well, if AMD doesnt get that F'ing clock speed up then they will have wasted billions of dollers developing an architecture that ends up performing like 4 semprons with some glue, so i don't see your point here.

Also, if you are going to directly insult people for stating the obvious then you need to ****. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF INTEL REVISED C2D A BILLION TIMES, amd still played the waiting game like their native quad would 'save the day'.

It doesn't, so stop crying over BS. The new B3 stepping has been review and it doesnt overclock either. get over the fact that amd is in second place.

Comparable cpu's? lol, my $70 e2140 will overclock to 3.5ghz, so lets run that one with a compareable AMD cpu, huh?

I'll be waiting :haha:

Mmm..I think AMD is on the second revision with Phenom. B2 now B3.

In my previous post I posted some benchmarks from Anandtech showing Wolfdale outperforming Phenom quad core in applications that utilize 4 cores.

If Wolfdale can outperform phenom Quad core in some of the applications that utilize 4 cores, then that means AMD tri-cores is not going to be better than Intel dual core

So, I think Wolfdale are going to be as good as Phenom tri-core in applications that can utilize 3 cores. In applications that don't utilize 3 cores, Wolfdale would probably destroy those tri-core phenom

...lol... I wouldn't compare this tricor with the E4500 just because they are clocked more similar... what matters is to which chips does it match were it counts, in the $!

And yes... as long as multithreaded software is a rumour more than one core is only good for... folding (ok, I have to try you know )
