Are they going to make revisions that are more tolerant to voltage? What would they change to do such a thing? If it comes out as a new revision I might get it or the e8300. 4ghz would be sweet.

Those scores will be the same wheter the clock is @ what it is or @ 3ghz ,, dont believe me try it,, u see 50 point difference maybe. @ 3Ghz the rest falls on the shoulders of the GPU and it can perform to its highest potential to the specs, Soo that 3dmark score is correct for your card. All Im saying is take it down to 3.2Ghz ,, and ull see no difference in speed. Its a good chip, enjoy it! People need to understand for games, dual core is the sweet spot, @ 3ghz usually ,, or 3.2ghz ,,,, anything higher will yield the same 3dmark scores. The CPU score in 3dmark will be high,, but you guys have seen the CPU tests that run @ 1fps LOL ,, soo see,, @ 3Ghz the cpu is doing its job, now its left to the GPU , soo you can OC that puppy to 5Ghz and youll never go above 15000 ,,, thats just the bottom line,, your GPU will perform to its specs and wont bottleneck one bit and youll get 100 percent out of the card. Where as someone with a 2.6Ghz dual ,, might not,,, However they wont see a difference in gaming frame rates.

For now I say enjoy the system, and don't kill it. Take down your voltage,

Look @ me, I got a lemon for a card ,, @ 865Mhz from default of 950Mhz ,,, I see no difference @ all with frame rate tests and everything. However I can say upping the shader clock made up for the memory downclock LOL ,,,,, stupid defective crap LOL!!!

good thread!!!

First of all, you don't need a lot of voltage to get these things going, 1.38 volts should never be needed. I can get my Q6600 to 3.33Ghz on 1.275V.

Second of all, you really don't know what your brothers E8400 was running at unless you checked it with a multimeter. How good is your motherboard's PWM?

Third, this is a 45nm process! The insulation layer is so thin that a high voltage will "rip" right through it and short out the transistors.

My brothers mobo has a huge vdroop, however when we set it we keep that in mind, Voltages are from cpu-z and we were at 1.45v and it fried after a week. All i know is that they are very very fragile chips and dont OC THAT high unless u give them volts
