I would still upgrade to it because Nehalem wont be out till 09 sometime. and even when it is out, its gonna be expensive as h3ll =X

Shouldn't be any more expensive than current CPUs are now.

First Nehalems are out Q4 08 and will consist of server- 'Extreme'- and high-end non-extreme quads. I'm waiting for that. Even if it turns out to be too expensive or not that good for desktop use as one expected, Penryns will fall in price and demand thanks to it.

Also, I concur with everyone who hates the heatpipe jungle. I can't imagine this many mentally ill plumbers getting employment in Taiwan. Even my AM2 board has it and it doesn't need half as much cooling as an Intel northbridge.

If AMD hasn't done anything impressive before then, we may very well see CPU prices start crawling back up.

dr4gon officially loses his title of watercooler. I hate heatpipes...gayest thing known to man. It forces us to upgrade the heatsinks on SB and mosfets as well or dremel off the heatpipe.

I completely agree, we all (AMD and Intel user alike) need AMD to get something significantly better out as soon as possible. Look at what happened to nVidia when AMD/ATi lagged behind long enough? 9800GTX?

On topic, I like the look of that board, but after seeing the P45 chipset, I can see the advantages it has over the P35, but how does it compare to the X38/X48? Forgetting overclockability, temperatures, stability etc. does it have any additional features over the X38/X48 that might make me want to upgrade?

Temps are actually higher then P35. And I belive its Crossfire 8x8 or 16x8.
