Sounds like a nice structure (cell phone comment), but again, this is about a telecom looking to maximize their profits, not them being fair to consumers.

Just like with Cell phone companies....
So if i DON'T use bandwidth, can i save it for later? Can i get payed BACK for what i don't use....since I'm paying for it anyways?! I hate the cell phone industry for being able to charge $30 for one meg of info per month, or $15 for unlimited text messaging ( receiving texts should ALWAYS be free because you can't control who texts you ) or $5 for the OPTION of receiving picture mail I'm sure I'll be hating the broadband industry very shortly.

If Comcast starts doing this to me, I swear to god I will threaten to sue. This is retarded........they already charge most customers $60 for just their 6mb service!

I wonder if they will let us make plans? Within some sort of reason. If the plans dont change, I may need to reconsider what I do when I'm connected.. I never really did a full month of monitoring but I will have to from now on to get an average but I know that it is high.. I DL Ubuntu once every six months and sometimes look for SuSe.. I play online games and vist many many websites..
I can only imagine how those poor people who don't know enough to secure their wireless connection are going to be surprised if they choose the wrong plan/fall victim to someone leeching.

This would be alright with me if prices actually scaled with real usage. If some old lady uses <5GB a month, she should only have to pay $5-10. If I used 50GB one month I could pay like $35, but the next month if I used 100GB I would pay $50. But we all know that's not how it is going to work.

Well... how hard are cable operators trying to destroy their market-share. Lets tally up the score... no nfl package (sunday ticket), limited HD content and now higher usage fees for bandwidth that they don't even deliver properly (I for one pay for 15 up 15 down... and you can imagine I never see those speeds upstream, and inconsitently downstream).
I have only vaguely been interested in satelite, dsl or fios in the past... but you can bet your sweet @$$ that I am now considering the switch very seriously

This isn't that big of deal to me if the usage is pretty high. Comcast is considering like 250GB a month. That's a lot of usage. What they should do is lower the price of the service then since they are reducing what we can do with their service now. Generally companies add value to a service, not take away, at least not without changing price.
__________________This sort of feels like we're going backwards though. When everyone had to use dial up internet, you paid for time like 10 hours a month or whatever. Now we're going from unlimited usage to a restricted usage (bandwidth instead of time). In that sense it doesn't seem quite right. However, if they keep the usage pretty high and adjust the prices accordingly, then it's not that big of deal to me.
