Silly. they increase the speed which opens up the door for super useage of their service, then they cap the bandwidth and charge for overages. Sounds like a cash-cow to me.

I figured that this was going to go through when the rumors popped up. Why wouldn't TW capitalize on a fee structure that is going to net them more money?
Anyone familiar with how much bandwidth is utilized when playing online multiplayer games?

Probly not more then a 100-500megs for 8-10hrs of playing but would depend alot on the game and how much bw it consumes ever second.

Instead of overage charges, they could just base your monthly rate on how much you used. For example, if you just checked email once or twice a day, you'd only pay like $10/month, but if you ran a fairly active server or used torrents a lot, your price would scale up to like $60/month.
They could also charge like a prepaid cell phone.

Not necessarily. If you charge a low-ish base rate and then scale the service based on how much they use, the upper end of users could pay $100/month or so. At that point it balances out for everyone, and they should make just as much if not more than they have been.

If they implement that here locally I would have to consider moving back to Qwest. Yuck!
