yeah but he's referring to the hype in general.

i mean, look at Nvidia's 9 series. they were hyped up like crazy, everyone knew they were pretty much a 're-vamp' ... and still everyone wet themselves in anticipation for these new beasts...and they failed. not saying that are bad cards, but the Ultra still walks all over them, and the 8800 GTX is right along side it.

You've misread. HD4850 is under 200. It is just a faster version of the HD3850 with the RV770 core(unlocked shaders, more SPs and faster) The HD4870 will be under 300.

So if a 4870 performs similiar to a 3870X2 and a 4870X2 would perform similiar to Quadfire 3870, does that mean Quadfire would be somewhere near the equivalent of 8 3870s (loosely assuming linear growth)?!?!?! Can't wait to see some real benchies!

For once I think its not ATI thats holding back the release, but GDDR5 development. Either way I just got my 3870 and it can max everything so I'm happy for now
