This is looking good. Not only do the cards look awesome spec wise but the price is also great. I personally think Nvidia is going to have trouble competing at a price level. ATI is very good at providing a range of cards for the low end user to the higher end user.

Hyped for the 4870 X2. I won't get one before any new build, though, which will be near the end of the year.. Maybe the dust has settled a bit then, too.

Just wait for benchmarks and reviews before deciding people.

the HD3 series was basically the same thing; these cheap ass low prices and they sounded like they were going to RAPE nvidia. but not really, and actually some online vendors like NEWEGG gouged a ton of money out of these cards. when/if they go high in demand, they won't be 200 dollars as said.

but i'm hoping for the best, it's going to be an exciting summer.
Don't buy from newegg when things are in low stock. They'll invariably rape you. I bought my 3870 a couple weeks after launch and saved >$50 off the newegg price by going to ncixus.com

No, your 9600GT is an awesome card and will likely continue to be compared favorably. The number of shader processors is not comparable.

I have a question about the unlocked shader thing on ATi-s 4xxx series. Does unlocked shader mean that i can overclock the shader clock like on nVidias cards?

Yes it means that you can unlock the shader and OC it independently.
