I stopped reading the review when they said <30FPS = Very Limited Gameplay.

I do not deny your statement Murlocke, but for me anything below 45fps gives me a rather minor headache. I think everyone has a different opinion of this and everyone has varying levels of eyesight, which would make any statement regarding fps at lower levels hard to compare. But letting this statement alone prevent you from reading a good article, welll... that's your loss.

![]() Just how I thought it would be though... processor means like nothing at 1920x1200 which is what I game at. People buying the new penryns at 1,500$ are indeed crazy or very rich.

Yeah. Anything above 20fps is enough to be considered "enjoyable".

Playing Crysis @ 15 fps, sure why not. Playing CoD4 @ 15 fps, nah dont think so.

I think 20+ is plenty playable on any game though, but I prefer atleast 25. Saying anything under 30FPS is "very limited gameplay" is just really wrong IMHO.

If I have <30fps in games like COD4, its laggy and unplayable.

Yeah, it really depends on the game, most fps games are doable in the 15-30fps range while a combat flight sim will suffer under 30 fps drastically. The are so many factors and so much data to gather and process at very high speeds in a dogfight (esp. WWII era prop and gun fighters) that you can miss something at less than 30 fps that would be vital to getting your kill or not getting killed yourself. As for scalability of the cpu in games, this also depends on the game, some rely more on the cpu than others, some are gpu hogs.
