Default [bit-tech] Acer predator : First Look

Quote:
At an event in Germany earlier this week, Acer launched a new series of gaming PCs branded the Aspire Predator range. We were there to check out the new machine and see how it measures up against what else is on the market.

Interestingly, the company said that it is banking on the anti-Internet angle and it is instead targeting a different market. It’s targeting those that want to get into gaming, but don’t want to wait weeks for an online purchase and then find you can’t take it straight back to the shop if something goes wrong.

Acer realises that there are many boutique system builders out there that are attractive to many purchasers, but it's also banking on the huge brand and an attractive warranty to leverage customers away from the more personalised experience associated with smaller system builders.

I know stuff has been posted about this, but this shows some better pictures and a bit more in depth.

pshh 9600GT SLI? they should go with some MSI 8800GTS SLI to go with the msi board... (As in the base starting cheapest SLI videocard solution)

overclocking options seems nice. wonder will it void the warrenty? funny if some guys call the tech support "My comp ain't working, my friend told me to up the cpu v core to 2.1v and leave it on over night to break it in so it can get cranking, now it doesn't work. F*CK you acer for such a ****ty comp. "

I think the case would look better without the orange covering on the outside.Sadly its still an OEM, probably has locked bios and you cant do too much with it.Although i'm glad to see some oems putting semi decent video cards in there machine's instead of onboard graphics now.

I'm fine with this as it's not really a "repost" more of a review.

Nice pics. Tbh it looks cheap. Or at least cheaper than it does on their website and in Engadget's slideshow...
