I thought the atom was a dual core.

Edit: 2 models. One is a single core and the other is a dual core.

HAHAHAHA The chipset has this MASSIVE HSF unit and then the CPU has a heatsink smaller than the one on my old VIA133 chipset on my socket A board! I dont know why I find that hilarious, but I do!

Shall be recommending this to my father who is hoping to make a little sound desk PC thing!

Ah you beat my edit.

Oh and not that I don't care for the eeepc or anything, but wouldn't this chip be awesome in a handheld like the DS or PSP?

Wondering where the extra $250+ is going to in the Eee PC = Priceless

Thats why this is good, its considerably cheaper, even buying retail than the $650 Eee PC 901.
you're forgetting about the 60 dollar DVD drive, and 20 dollars or so for fans, AND the 100+ dollar operating system, because the model you're referring to runs Windows XP.

And since the Eee PC is actual portable and practical (college classes, trips etc.), I would have to say that the extra $70 is probably being spent on making it not as worthless as a tiny computer.

Would you rather have a small FTP server, that fits 4 or 5Tb in your Wardrobe, or a large one that makes more noise and is under your desk?

So, How is it worthless again?

I'd rather just get another hard drive, 5tb is kind of overkill.

I've never really understood peoples desires for little server computers when all they are is essentially expensive hard drives that consume more power and space
