NOW THAT'd BE AWSOME! lol.

Microsoft should take the Atom and make like a portable xbox1. And! Create a proprietary software for the 360 that would allow you to read the xbox1 discs and copy them to memory card(s) in a format that can only be read by the XBP(XBox Portable). I mean theres gotta be a small, low power consumption GPU they could interconnect to the CPU w/ equivalent power to the geforce-based one in the xbox1. The case could be all aluminum and it'd be the heatsink for the CPU and GPU. They'd have to do a lil workaround probably for the difference in clockspeed and ops per cycle. BUT HELL! they're Microsoft, they could do it! And make millions @ it in the process.
They could also make games specifically for it like the PSP...

If they(Microsoft) ever decided to do something like this... It came from me

What!? That was the northbridge?

I hope Intel brings out a Pico-ITX to compete with VIA's, just to bring the prices down.

yes it did. it was an intel celeron cpu @ 733 MHz

the only difference from a PC was it used XBFS on the hard drive instead of FAT32 or NTFS.

Default This Atom equipped board can run Mac OSX too.

Hey, just got done building a system with one of these Atom CPU's Came on the Intel D945GCLF motherboard.

Pretty much ran OSX right out of the box. Here is a link to the instructions on what to buy... only real important thing is the board... read the entire thread before attempting this.. there are some hints that may make installation easier.

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=113623

I am running the Kalyway 10.5.2 distribution then upgraded to 10.5.4

We spent HOURS trying to get this to work, then thought to pick MBR as the drive format.. worked great first time, then just loaded the apps. Then loaded Parallels and WinXp Pro. Only reason for this was so I could use my Netflix Instant watching.. UNFORTUNATLY it does not work very well.. the video is choppy.. we are still trying to figure out why.. it SHOULD work, and I dont think it is a problem with the Atom, or the onboard video being on the slow side.. I think it is a translation problem... However it is not a problem on real Mac's.. so not sure yet.
Only piece of hardware that does not work is the audio input, people are working on a fix, but if it is a problem, you could just find a Mac compatible USB sound device. Only other issue is visual artifacts that sometimes appear.. mouse pointer stays or doubles, or part of a menu will remain after you close it.. not a big deal though.

I have been a PC user for a long time...long enough to have used an IBM PC... this is my first "Real" use of Mac OS... so far I like it... still getting used to everything... but it is visually very pleasing... and it is actually fast unlike Vista

I got these parts for my Hackintosh all locally.
Intel D945GCLF for $83
Case W/PS for $35
2gig DDR for $45
WD 400GB SATA2 HHD for $70
SATA DVD Burner for $60 (Highly recomended)
Total of $293 +tax

The SATA DVD is REALLY FAST!!! burned a WinXP ISO image to CD in less than 5 min including the verify, A full audio CD took 1 min with the verify.

Here are some screenshots of my Hackintosh.

Nice screenshot with the About info.. I like the background too.

Nice example of CoverFlow within the OS, this is an optional view of any folder, or files. Kinda nice if you have a folder with lots of pictures, you can see them all quickly at a glance.

I like this background too.. but it is a bit too bright.

Here is WinXP booting up in parallels.

WinXP up and running.

If you have any questions let me know.

Have a great day.
Ken

Make your own thread for your accomplishment!

However, I am not sure Hackintosh discussions are allowed here.

I was not posting it because of an accomplishment.. I was originally looking so see if anybody had overclocked an Atom CPU or this Mobo, but I found nothing..
so I posted this, only because I am running the CPU and Mobo everyone is talking about... I figured people might like to know it has this capability.

If this forum does not permit posts on Hackintosh's or other interesting computer related items, then it's no place for me anyway... please let me know if I have broken some "rule" and I will remove myself as a member. There are plenty of friendly forum around, that like open discussions about interesting stuff.

I currently have a PC running in the wall, and was thinking about down sizing it. This seems like something to lean towards... Air flow inside a wall sucks so bad... just moving around the same air in the wall cavity... temps are OK, but only that. If i got a cooler CPU in there (atom based) then I'd have something!!
Thats a cool idea man. Are you worried about fires though? How hard is it to get to for maintenance?
