...Ever heard of 9800GX2? Lower price and guess what? Its the almost same performance.

Sure I would buy this over 9800GX2 but...IMO after this much hype and the insane price I'm disappointed.

Ya.. I'm a little confused as to why people are comparing a bi-GPU card to a single GPU card. Yes, it's cheaper but throw price out for a second. To compare the GTX280 and the 9800GX2 properly, wouldn't you have to SLI the GTX280? Maybe I'm just not "seeing the light."

One of the EVGA mods said they would be available for step up tomorrow.
2 of the 280s should end up costing me about $150 total.

Jesus, the cheapest one is $450...? Now, isn't the performance only marginally better than current cards that cost half that much...? Wow, what a disappointment. On a quasi-separate note, check out the screen shot I took of the main OCN page of the Hardware News section--no fewer than 9 of the most active threads discussing the GTX200 series cards, LOL! Secretly (not-so-secretly) I'm almost hoping these cards flop given all the hype about them...

why do people bring up the dual gpu vs single gpu thing? if it takes up ONE electronic PCIe slot, ITS A SINGLE GRAPHICS CARD. the GTX 280 is way over priced. drop it down about $200 and then it will get some respect...

Really? It seems to me having 2 GPUs IN YOUR SYSTEM, whether it "take up one PCIe slot" or two would do better then having 1 GPU in your system. Please... BTW, I'm only comparing the 9800GX2 and the GTX 280. Don't be stupid and bring up 2 old cards and compare them to something brand new.

it seems to be one to me. depends on defination of a card. if the performance and price are there, why is it so bad to do that? its a smart thing. if you run a quad, all (intel) quad records should then be disqualified because all they did is fuse 2 seperate c2d dies into one...but i dont hear people complaining there

9800GX2: $429
GTX 280: $650
2 geeks arguing over the defination of a graphics card: priceless
