***? All the reviews I've been reading are all over the board. The 4850 beats the 9800GTX soundly in some reviews, and in others it's the other way around.

I don't know what to believe anymore.

Not pissed in a couple months, pissed a couple months ago...

I am switching to an ATI card at the soonest possible oppurtunity. Nvidia's product lineup has been a circus for almost all of 2008 so far. Luckily the only reason I bought a 9800GTX was to design a cooling solution for it to be sold at Petra's tech and Sidewinder. If I had purchased the card as a replacement for an older card, I would be seriously ticked right now.

Well, I happen to be in the market for buying a video card for my new build and the 9800 GTX+ looks just right.

So.. the 4850 is better than my current 8800GTX? Damn that sucks. The ATI is much cheaper too

I'm fighting the temptation to buy the 4850 so I can get the 4870 in a few weeks. Or a pair of them...or that new P45 mobo...it's all a conspiracy to drain my wallet.

Even the Phenom may be starting to look decent-ish at the right price with that new chipset.

The 177.3x drivers give stupid increases in performance, even without PhysX. I am right now scoring P7456 in Vantage, with a GPU score of 9178. My OC headroom has further increased too. Now I max out on stock air at 855/2120/2100 (1050x2). Keep in mind too that my CPU sucks bollocks and is scoring only 4770, so I am scoring damn high for two 9600 GT cards in SLI.

Here is the result http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=181329

On average, the 177.35 driver gave me 8%-10% increase. The 177.39 gives about 10% - 12% now. I have checked it pretty soundly too. That explains the benches. NVIDIA must have done some serious tweaking in the drivers to boost performance. Either that or they were cheating everyone and holding back. I will bet you that with the same driver the 9800GTX and 9800GTX+ at the same OC will perform about the same. I want to see this test, 9800GTX vs. 9800GTX+, same OC on both, same driver on both. I will bet that the two will not have more than 2% difference between them.

NV is clearly playing a game with the consumers.

Fake, all these charts are fake. I don't know why you guys even waste time speculating on fake charts. The only thing I'll believe is when the 9800GTX+ launchs and benchmark the card myself personally.

Not everyone gets a chance to benchmark cards themselves

Planning to buy one of each card and do a vs. test yourself? Otherwise, benching the card you bought is kinda pointless, as, well, you already bought it.
