I say 4850 as it should pull ahead when drivers mature. Either one should max out that res. for almost any game.

Maybe ATI will come out with a 4860? A little better than the 4850 and a little less than the 4870. If they would change the prices so the 4850 would go down more ATI can use the same strategy that Nvidia used.

I think it should come out with a 4854.86. It would be better than a 4854.859 but not as good as a 4854.8601.

Isnt' the 9800gtx clocked to its max though? If true, for 30 bucks more, it doesn't seem to be that good of a buy. The 3850 can more likely beat it overclocked no problem, but the temps are a little high

Link me to a 9800GTX+ @ same price of a 4850, or even close.

I wouldn't say its losing its just competing really well with the 9800+. Also we haven't seen any real official drivers yet. Those might just make it just above the 9800+.
