A new Western Digital Hard Drive.

1TB with 32 MB cache. First Western Digital with these specs.

Still cheaper to RAID two 500GB drives. (or two 640s)

But the platter density should combat it on the tb...close.

i have this drive. It is INSANELY fast for a 1tb drive. I MEAN INSANELY fast. but i paid 250 for it last week :-(

Explains it nicely.

I was under the impression that on this TB drive there are less platters compared to two 500gb drives put togeather. Meaning that there is less motion required by the drives' arm in order to obtain a given amount of information.

I personally think its no where near 2x WD 640Gb Raid 0 performance, nore my 2x Seagate 320Gb Raid 0...

I average 132~136Mb read speed...

it is insanely fast for a 1tb drive. once benchmarks are made, ill be glad to show you
