With the hardware support in place, programmers can take advantage and not have to limit themselves. While I'm not saying 24Gb is useful ATM, I am saying, "If the hardware can support it, go for it".

After all, if your car can go over 70 MPH (plenty fast enough), but the speed limit was only 45 MPH, I wouldnt want the car manufacturer's to start limiting their cars to 45 MPH becasue that is the current speed limit.

....I know its a lame example, but its the best I can do.

Hey, 640K should be enough memory for anybody right?

Besides, many servers are already in the double digits as far as memory capacity. Intel produces for more than just home users. The CPU should not limit the amount of memory you can use regardless of the application.

exactly, the would be a godsend for datacenters not end-users.

I think it was Bill Gates that said the same thing a few years ago, but it was with 640K.

Should be very similar, though there are obviously a number of small enhancements (beyond the on-die memory controler).

That's not the FSB speed. Nehalem doesn't have a traditional FSB anyway.

That clock is for the quick path bus wich just connects the CPU to the southbridge and perhipherals.
