Porn, the same reason 24mb of ram was thought to be insane and yet surpassed.

I don't know if that is its correct reading or not.. though I am most certainly hoping it is, I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet.

Hm, I wonder if they finally decreased the process size on these chipsets, x38's were way too toasty. It will also be interesting to see how the cut memory controller effects the power consumption.

Just because we upgrade every 6 months, doesn't mean that others don't upgrade every 6 years...

Besides, 24Gb of Ram means goodbye Pagefile, at least for a while.

Did anyone else notice that 22x multi?

And the ram limits are fine. Most major processor improvements brought about recommendations of 4x the previous generation (486 was 8mb, P1 was 32mb, P2 was 128mb, etc). The recommendation will probably end up being 8gb soon with 16gb considered high-end (give it a year or so after nehalem's release). And keep in mind that this is the first time Intel puts more than 4 slots of RAM on regular desktop motherboards since the 386, so that automatically increases the limit more than needed.

This is what I'm waiting for to upgrade. Should be the next-gen technology I've been waiting for.

Why is there a 22x multiplier and the bus speed is so low? I heard somewhere that 2.8ghz nahlem would be faster than a 3.6ghz kentsfield. How does this work with such a low fsb? I guess it could be the hyperthreading.\
Edit: sorry, it doesnt even have an FSB.
