I wouldn't plan on upgrading my GPU for quite some time if I was to buy a 4870x2, so how long do you guys think this thing will be able to max games at 1680x1050?
It may drop some......but the fact is that the 4870 is beating the 260GTX and in some cases the GTX280, and both of them cost more.....so ATI really doesn't have to drop the price to compete.
However if the 260GTX drops any more they may feel the need to lower the price.

I just bought 2 4850s because they present an amazingly high FPS/$ ratio, plus there are already BIOS editing tools and pencil mods out......I will end up getting 4870 performance for $150 a piece after MIR.

I've noticed some people are eager to Crossfire a single 4870 with a 4870x2. As a heads up, we know that crossfire will only work with the same memory and clocks, and will eliminate and downclock the higher card so that both will be able to work in conjunction with each other.

The 4870x2 has 2GB whilst the 4870 has 512. will Crossfire with a 4870 eliminate 1GB of memory from the x2 ? (im sure this is helpful to some people )

The memory bus does not judge the amount of memory that can be used at one time.

The 3870x2 was counted as 256-bit per GPU, overall a 512-bit card.

I'm sure this is a full 512-bit card.

Saying that is like saying you can add the Ghz of each CPU core into one. (2.4Ghz Quad = 9.6Ghz? I don't think so.)

Each 1GB of memory has a 256 bit bus.
