right.

I play OBLVION, CRYSIS, SupCom, and The Witcher...

I have an 8800GTX, a 1680x1050 LCD, and I want better performance in OBLVION and CRYSIS... (I use texture packs in oblivion... it hammers my system more than crysis, in the same way an OC'd 8800 annihilates a stock 9800...)

I am interested in getting a 4870... but will I see enough improvement to make it worthwhile (i.e. 10 - 15 fps???)

With the GTX280 at 449 I may consider it over the 4870X2. I would prefer to have a single GPU option but that X2 is soooo mouth watering its rediculous.

If Nvidia is still making a profit at their new prices, then they've effectively been ripping off consumers.

By doing a little Googling the launch date of the 9800GTX+ looks to be tomorrow (July 16) but don't quote me on that as that's just what Expreview says.

HD4850 won in
COD4
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
BioShock

So, 9800GTX+ was better in 4 out of 7 in anandtech

And please can you post the link for the review from Bit-Tech because I'm didn't find it !

So far all the reviews that was posted here show that 9800GTX+ is better than HD4850 most of the time
You're ignoring the trends for the numbers - when the HD4850 takes the lead, it really takes the lead. When the 9800GTX+ wins, it's only by a few frames. It's also worth noting that minimum frame-rates were not included. And if Bit-Tech is right, the HD4850 tends to maintain better minimum frame-rates, something I consider even more important than average once you get above 35-40FPS. I'd rather play a game that averages 35FPS and not have it dip below 25FPS than play a game
that averages 60FPS but occasionally dips down to 15FPS.
