Default Is your post really news? (And some other general info.) READ THIS BEFORE POSTING!

According to Princeton's Wordnet, news is defined as "information about recent and important events". Things that might fall into this catagory are an announcement about a new game, AMD's latest roadmap, or perhaps even a new record overclock. These are all things that either were not heard of before, elaborate on or comfirm things we thought might happen, or are otherwise important for an overclocker to know.

Things that might not be considered news, however, would be anything that is not from a reputable source (reputable sources being any of the plethora of News/Review sites out there, a company rep, official email, etc) or anything relating to your personal hardware. This includes, but is not limited to, ubsubstantiated rumors, your persoal experiance with something, information from a source that cannot be confirmed, etc. A good question to ask yourself is "If somebody else told me this and then told me the source, could I reasonably believe it?" If the answer is no, this is probably because your source is not trustworthy enough for the type of material they are reporting.

So, now you've decided what you have is news. How do you go about posting it? All the information you need can be found in this thread. Pay close attention to your title (it should include a proper source tag and should adaquetly describe your news) and the content of your post itself. As you are adding content to the most frequently viewed section of the site, it is crucial that you be as professional as possible.

Thank you for reading, and please enjoy the News sections here at Overclock.net!
