NO, no wait, if you make it triple-sided - i.e. into a cylinder- keep it stationary, use 2 or 3 lasers to bounce the light off a digital mirror, and record the information holographically in 3-dimensions -- or whatever dimension holograms exist in-- then you'll have a lot more.

I prefer a 500G HDD anyday of the week over a 500G disc.

That's why you attach a necklace and call it your power crystal. And store your life in there as a backup in case you die.

It would take days to write data to that disc...

Serisouly though, that is massive, and I don't know why it would be necessary other then to do back up data.

BTW, how thick is this thing? lol
I think that a full system backup would be the only useful thing to do with this at the moment; no game or movie would ever require that amount of space in the immediate future. However, it's at the point now where tape backups can effectively be phased out of use. My dad uses them in his office and they feel like such archaic bits of technology. The tapes suit him fine but I think optical would be more reliable and portable.

A few more details on the dimensions would be cool though. I can't imagine it being too much thicker or different looking than a normal BD though.
