That's about right but remember, they are talking about manufactured PC's so Dell, HP, Acer, etc are the ones they are mostly talking about. We're not included in this study hehe. But then again, they can't compare our PC's to Macs because you can't custom build yourself a Mac.

I've tried, $1000 gets you something pretty nice, but you need to step it up to $1500 before you get something all-dominating.

I think for 1500 you can do C2Q, 8GB DDR2, 4870, triple 750GB, nice case and PSU.

No you need $ 2000 minimum for a nice rig. I did the math and thats the result I got. My AMD Quad core will cost me about $ 2300 (roughly). At $1500 you have to cut corners in certain areas or make sacrifices to fit the budget.

Just my 2 cents.

Half the most of macs? I think that's going a bit far.
(At least, if they're talking about prebuilt computers)

I hope thats monitor included, because I just tested it, and you can get a 9950 BE/K9A2 rig with 4870s in CF, complete with sound card, 500gb HD, cpu heatsink, card reader and DVD burner all in a TT Armor for $1400, $1300 after MIR, off of newegg. Its not about cutting corners, its just about not wasting your money.

If all you wanted to do was play games, $1500 gets you a quality GTX 280 SLI build.

When any of you figure out how to build your own all in ones..

Let me know.. HP and Dell have them, priced similarly to the iMac's..
