What was intel thinking in putting an about 3 year old chipset pairing with that CPU? They could at least use a Mobile 945 version.

I'm really thinking in getting a D945GCLF to make a home file server but what's holding me back is that I don't know what consumes more, that mobo, or an ASUS F8-Sa.

actually it's not the smallest CPU, and not using smallest manufacturing technology.

it is the smallest x86 CPU running on moderate 45nm technology.

you see, ARM has the smallest CPU (non x86 though) and Altera already have 40nm technology on their Stratix 4 FPGA
