Talk about invasion. I would not want anyone looking into my phone too see what I had installed ETC. So wrong.

Imagine if someone besides Apple manages to crack into the online blacklist system and disables all sorts of legit software.

lol more BS from Apple, this should be opt-in when you get the iPhone and have the ability to turn it off at any time.

Then when it occasionally dials home, there may be a problem; however Apple would no doubt fix it rather quickly..

Thats totally not what it does (thus making people complaining about privacy wrong as well..)

It contacts Apple servers, and if it says an application is not allowed to be used, the iPhone will then disable that application from working. Apple itself doesnt necessarily know that you have it on your phone. Besides, nothing is blocked as of right now, is there? This is just a article to spread some crap about Apple really..

This is no different from Windows contacting Microsoft servers to see if its genuine, ect ect.. Plenty of other similar practices that arent necessarily bad.

But MS doesnt disable Windows (at least with XP)

This would disable the 'not allowed' programs and it is an invasion of privacy.

If I want 'X' installed on my iphone, then I'll install it. If Apple dont like it, they can disabled it.........nice one.

What if Apple 'ok' a program and then later have a fall out with the creators of it and decide to disable it?

QFT. if you buy something, it should be yours to control, fully. you didn't buy a license to the phone, you bought the phone itself. this is kinda like you buying a new car, and then the manufacturer has the right to disable any aftermarket parts (because theyre not OEM). that's just retarded.

It's Apple... come on... It's OKAY for them to do it. It is not like their products are public domain...

I hope Apple abuses this. Then everyone will move to Zunes and Blackberries.

Burn in a pit Apple.

I have no real feeling pro or con re: apple. I will say, this does seem to be a bash article and nothing more. All you people complaining that it is an invasion of privacy, do you have any proof that Apple went into anyones phone and ever disabled anything? I can see how this could be bad, but until there is some proof that it has been done and that is what it was implemented for, relax.

Because we can't turn that off, or just not do it. Activating windows is one thing, much like activating your iPhone, but I can tell Windows to never hit the servers.
