Pointless? Far from that infact. It points out that Apple has the power to remove any app they please from your phone without you knowing. So what if it's there for Malicious Apps? The fact is someone has the ability to go into your phone and do crap without you knowing. In today's world there is no shortage of people who will not hesitate to do crap with technology just to piss people off.

I have the ability to track you down, break into your house and steal you PC. Does that mean you should be worried about it? I am sorry, this totally looks like scare tactics. There is no proof that that was what it was designed to do or that anything like that has happened. The solution is easy: Don't buy an iphone.

Eeewww...BURN!
Whilst some of you have genuine concerns, most are just following the whole' ZOMG my rights' bandwagon. It has been happening tons on here, no one really thinks Apple would do this!

I can't believe people are actually falling for this anti-Apple stuff. This is no different than a GPS tracking system fitted into cars. They are a security measure that can be used as a disadvantage if abused. Like most security features!

However, this won't be abused as it will be easily detected! Apple would be opening a tin can of lawsuits if they tried a stunt like this. Contrary to belief they are not that stupid!

This is getting out of control, just like the whole DRM fiasco. Companies are actually trying to do something positive and the consumer goes and cries by clinging onto 'what if' statements. If I was clinging onto 'what if' statements all my life I would be too scared to leave my own damn house. It is time to let them go and handle situations on facts instead of opinions.

Sounds like as good of an excuse as "Windows Genuine Advantage."

It appears to be reserved for disabling actually malicious apps, not ones that Apple just doesn't like and might've yanked from the store. After all, no apps have shown up the list yet, and NetShare, the tethering app that is currently pulled from the store remains operational on all the phones we have it installed on, even after a sync.
It disables them, which is NOT removing them... And they havent done anything with it yet. And Apple doesnt dive into your iPhone, your iPhone updates/syncs with Apple, and if they have a disabled application, your phone will then disable itself.

Again, scare tactics, crappy article, just meant to fling crap at apple..

Apparently, there's a blacklist URL in the iPhone's OS that he says "suggests that the iPhone calls home once in a while to find out what applications it should turn off."
The person who found the link doesn't even know that it does this for sure.
