Yeah, I wasn't commenting on the thread being started. I was talking to the chicken littles who think Apple is going to wirelessly rape their iPhone.

Did you make the post I quoted 4 hours before the other thread was started?

It seems that this feature is only going to be used to deactivate malicious applications that somehow snuck past the screening process, not to get rid of any applications Apple doesn't like. As Lelouch said, and I am going to emphasize this for everyone to see, even though many are ignoring it:

APPLE IS A RATIONAL COMPANY. THEY WILL NOT DO THIS WITHOUT GOOD REASON.

No company would be stupid enough to deactivate applications just because they didn't like them. Regardless of what you think of Apple, they will only use this to deactivate malicious applications that may contain viruses or try to muck up with your phone or your information.
define rational.

IMO, anything that calls back home without my consent is violating my privacy. That includes DRM like in mass effect as was planned, and this. I install apps on my phone because I want to, and IMO the phone's developer has no right to tell me what i can and cannot install on the phone after i have paid for it, ESPECIALLY since there is no 'use of software LICENSE' eula, after buying a phone, like there is in a game. It's mine, i own it completely.

anyways, i have yet another reason to stay with windows.

so lets say that you download a free app that is for oh lets say a flashlight type thing, something that just keeps just the screen one color and that is its only feature and that is the only feature that is listed, but that app is connecting to a remote server posting where exactly you are...
being able to disable that service on a mass level is very beneficial for privacy issues.

Almost exactly what the blacklist does, thank you.

What it would do is block the app from using Core Location, however thats the only thing it stops. So you would still have your screen one color, but it wont be able to send that remote server your location.

ahem core location is a service that apps can use but yes it would just disable that and still function like it should.

Bah... another way to control people while fooling them into thinking it's for their "security"... that reminds me of someone... oh.. our (US) current administration has been doing that for years now (read: we can now confiscate laptops, cell phones, mp3 players, cd players, etc without reason for an unspecified amount of time). People should get used to kissing civil liberty good-bye as this crap is not gonna stop anytime soon as long as people fall for the "it'll make us safer" BS.

Rant Over.
