It seems that this feature is only going to be used to deactivate malicious applications that somehow snuck past the screening process, not to get rid of any applications Apple doesn't like. As Lelouch said, and I am going to emphasize this for everyone to see, even though many are ignoring it:

APPLE IS A RATIONAL COMPANY. THEY WILL NOT DO THIS WITHOUT GOOD REASON.

No company would be stupid enough to deactivate applications just because they didn't like them. Regardless of what you think of Apple, they will only use this to deactivate malicious applications that may contain viruses or try to muck up with your phone or your information.

IMO, anything that calls back home without my consent is violating my privacy. That includes DRM like in mass effect as was planned, and this. I install apps on my phone because I want to, and IMO the phone's developer has no right to tell me what i can and cannot install on the phone after i have paid for it, ESPECIALLY since there is no 'use of software LICENSE' eula, after buying a phone, like there is in a game. It's mine, i own it completely.
