Go Displayport.. I'd much rather have that as at least a major competitor to HDMI. Hopefully they gain more support.

The major differences between these and the consumer cards is the drivers. They are specifically tuned for large operations such as CAD/CAM work.

The difference in hardware is very little, but it is tuned for professional work, much in the same way Xeon's are made for databasing and the like, not gaming.

What's the likelihood that you could just buy a similarly-specced Radeon card and flash the BIOS to one of the pro cards, like the Nvidia cards with Rivatuner?

Just to elaborate a bit more; the major differences are..

Ports on the card, drivers, and RAM on the card itself.

Also, just to say; server cpu's do have architectural changes.. Opterons for AMD's actual server boards have more internal Hyper Transport links, which is part of why they scale better in 4P or 8P, ect ect. Im sure Intel also has changes, though im not familiar with what they would be.

Edit: Sekigahara; you could do it.. But it wouldnt be the card; you would have dual displayport ports.

No, because the hardware is different inside, just not greatly so.

acually depending on the card, the only change is the drivers.
of course, workstation cards have the big bracket thing, they pay big bucks for the support and drivers and added stability, something a flashed Hd 3870/3870x2 won't offer.
