but note that a 2140 is dual, and boasts better IPC, etc.

Interesting, this is the first I've ever heard of 6 GHz being passed.

6GHz on a $150 board...I think I might order one today. Haven't decided on that yet.
But I know I've seen multiple cases of 6GHz out of a E8400 and E8500 in my mother board research ...lol...what ever happen to our 15X multipliers? I want that back...8GHz out of a 534MHz FSB

4.0 GHz

I highly doubt it. You'll need sub-zero temps to get to 5ghz. I don't even think water will cut it unless you got an amazing processor.

Also, the inherent downfall of the 45nm OC's is not temp., it is voltage. To acheive higher OC's, you need to raise the vcore higher than the 1.325v (or whatever the max recommended is) and these have been known to fail due to that well before temop is an issue. (unless the changed something and I missed it) Quote:
lol, calm down people. It was a joke. I am aware that a PC running on LN2 is not done so for performance. This site is getting really aggressive lately. edit: Not to mention, people OC for different reasons. It isn't always about epeen and records. Sometimes, it is about getting more performance.

Wow. Someone broke a record with a dual/quad core processor and they actually didn't disable 1/3 core(s).
