that mb is nothing but a demo...when Asus comes out with a rog x58 that is as good if not better than the rampage extreme then that will be news.

And, the whole idea of 4-8x pcie slots is whack....4- 16xpcie slots would be something to talk about ...so far aside from the added memory and supposedly better oc " capabilities " of the i7 chips.

Nehalem needs something more to sell itself on.

While I already have ddr3...there's alot of people who don't...and getting 3x sticks is going to cost that much more....

If Intel was keen enough to make the first i7 chips with 8-cores then " I WOULD LITERALLY BE DROOLING "....but i'm not.

There's alot of reviewers who don't pay for chips or mbs'...theres alot more gamers & oc'ers who pay for the performance stuff...but if i7 is not as great compared to the current cheaper penyrn & x38,x48,p35,p45,etc....

Then you may as well wait until it does get great when the sandy 8-core chips will be here.

Triple channel is a bad idea IMO.

I don't see why.

This mobo will support the new Nehalem, which uses new architecture. With new architecture comes new features, and most of which are upgrades of the old stuff. Transitioning from a P4 Prescott to a Core 2 Duo showed us this, especially with the mainstream use of DDR2. PCI-E became the norm, and overclocking became easier and safer.

This time around, we will see PCI-E 3.0, triple-channel DDR2, eventually some faster, cheaper DDR3, 2 grades of CPUs (one that allows overclocking, one that does not), on-die memory controlling which will reduce the size of the northbridge chipset heat sink since it no longer controls the memory.

We will see some great performance, but the prices at first will of course be awful.

i wonder if they went triple channel just to make it easier to stick 3gigs into pc's with a 32-bit os.

I really like how easy the layout is. Looks very clean, and not yet strange colors from Gigabyte or DFI yet

Well with an ever growing need for more memory in computers, triple channel does seem to be the next transition. Obviously the more channels for memory you have directly linked to the memory controller, the more memory you can run at a faster rate. Plus this means that if you wanted to run say 12 gigs of ram ( I know that ram doesn't come in forms of 6 gigs, but bear with me here ) it would most likely be faster to run three 4 gig chips than two 6 gig chips. This allows more ram to access the processor at one time, I think.

Some things perhaps tells me they went triple to sell more sticks...now you got to have 3 for it to work right...though I sure it would work in down-graded dual mode...not sure though.

Of course 3-sticks 3gb...if 1gb is the low standard makes for the minimum recommendation for new systems.
