Source

Quote:
Hardwarezone.com is breaking news on ASUS new line of X58-based motherboards for the upcoming Intel i7 processor.

Major features include:

36-total PCI-E lanes, enabling full 4 x 8X mode
ICH10R Southbridge
Full SAS support
16-phase power design
Propriety DTS audio algorithims

really nice!

i hope to see more motherboard manufactures put some heatsink (or MOSFET) at the top bits. because tower heatsinks some times create a deadspot on the heatsinks behind back IO

I like the design - especially the battery placement. I also like the space between the bottom of the DIMM slot and the graphics card PCI-E slot. DFI lacks that practical design choice.

It's temporary, there's obviously going to be some heatsinks there.. And practically all motherboard manufacturers do put heatsinks there already. Unless you're buying some $30 thing.

This is solely due to the IMC, most other current Intel motherboards have the DIMM/PCI-E problem due to the need of putting slots close to the NB.

Well you don't technically need three sticks, but of course any self-respecting PC enthusiest is going to triple-up.

Can fit MORE RAM?

Instead of 4x2Gb sticks, 6x2Gb sticks FTW!
