I think it's a great idea to mix the two because that means that the consumer gets the ultimate choice for pairing parts together.
The pico90 watt, smallest PSU made.

Click the playstation link in my sig, its the PSU im using and theres a link for it.

5x Multipler.... I wonder how well it overclocks since the Lima core usually runs at 2-2.4GHz.

They were able to undervolt the CPU from .9v to .8v. This saved them another additional 1.5w while being Prime95 stable!

I wish they would have done an un-encrypted HD video test. It sounds like it could do it with the 780G chipset, and that it only fails the Blu-Ray playback because of the encryption.

I couldn't have said it better At least they are finding a great market for their old processors. I just wonder what their new chipset will do in that ITX market. Though I've yet to even see the real benefit of having an eee PC. Oh well...maybe it's just me. Especially with laptops being extremely cheap nowadays, it just seems like a waste for better power usage IMO. But I can say that I can't wait to see some AMD 45nm and even 35nm mobile processors in the future.

Why would you want an intergrated package?

What AMD needs to do is designed stripped down verson of the awesome 780G and intergrate the southbridge. Drop some USB/SATA ports. Cut some of the HD3200 cores. Power saving could also be achieve by using single-phase PWM instead of 3/4/6-phase common on the 780G.

Of course.... they are AC-DC power bricks into DC-DC convertors.

http://www.logicsupply.com/products/picopsu_90 + http://www.logicsupply.com/products/pw_ac_80w
A single chip 780G and SB would be perfect for this CPU. I wonder if AMD has any plans to bring this CPU down to 45nm. That would drop the TDP down even further.

So whatever happened to the slides that were floating around of the new chip that was designed to compete with Atom? Or is this it?

Also, Duckie, thanks for the link for those small PSUs. Anyone know of the efficiency rating of that picopsu?

Damn, I was just about to post this. Beaten to it by duckie again...

I really liked this, and it totally caught me by surprise. I had no idea AMD was even going to invest any time into the super small ultra portable mITX market so soon, given that Intel spent a lot of time and money in their research and development department on it. I'm no fanboy, but I loved seeing Intel get owned by AMD's 4 year old hardware... I was never a fan of the Atom cpu in the first place--seemed like kind of a step down.

Now, what I'd really like to see is a good, ultra low power dual core to be used in place of the current mITX CPU options--I think that's what's missing from the arena, but of course it would significantly increase power consumptions, which is the whole idea of going the route they have...

Well all they did so far was release a new CPU so... and we are comparing a matx board with a mitx, they are in somewhat different markets. If you must compare AMD and Intel platforms though, i think AMD is ready.

woo so-dimm and pciexpress as well

anyways all the cutting down stuff really does is make a cheap motherboard cheaper to make (mitx boards will still be expensive). Most of the power consumption is from the integrated mem controler on the Intel 945GC, AMD put that in the bag long ago so its not a problem. Honestly, just look at all the extra dvi, satas, e sata, usb, Hd abilies and better expansion slots as a premium.
