No.... CPU still has to do some HDCP stuff and perform the data transfers. They'll need to get the CPU to around 2GHz for 1080p with the 780G.

In the current form yes, but wouldn't a dual core 1ghz K8 be able to handle HD videos?

I wonder what took AMD so long to do this.
__________________I had a S754 Mobile Athlon 64 3000+ (90nm Venice) that did 1.2GHz at 0.8v back in 2005. It could be cooled with a stock A64 cooler and no fan at all. I figure it's max power output was on the order of 12 watts at that speed (it was a 35w TDP chip at 1.2v 2Ghz). They could have made this 8w +2000 as soon as they had 65nm chips. I guess they needed the Atom incentive.
