Might be behind the MOSFET cooler, I've seen some boards set up that way. Or maybe Bloomfield chips don't need an external power source? They do have a lot more pins...

And the only thing I'll say is that battery placement is horrible.

It is, if you look hard at the back PS/2 keyboard/mouse port block, you can see the 8-pin connector in the reflection. Agreed on the battery placement, btw.

I don't mind Gigabyte's colors, really, since after putting all the cards/RAM/CPU and the CPU's heatsink/fan on and connecting your headers and whatnot, you won't see much of the Jackson Pollock painting that makes up the board's color scheme. Something like eVGA's 790i scheme would fit far better, only with red PCI-e slots.

The second and third Gigabyte is well-known for, and the first I'd hardly consider all that important.

Isn't that why you'd go to Gigabyte in the first place, for the latter 2? Looks don't matter when you have something that just works, and works well. Unless you're showing off a completely bare board in an acrylic case.

You know that overclocking has become mainstream and lots its niche status when everyone whines about how pretty the motherboard / videocard is not about the actual quality of electronics / features.

Three notable changes:
1 - CPU is about 5mm further south, a welcome change (I had to file the side of my Vendetta 2 to get it to stop pushing against my PSU on X38)
2 - Memory and first PCI-E slot are much further apart (north-south), I had to mod my XTC RAM cooler to mount it on X38
3 - Second PCI-E x16 slot blocks the PCI slot (I keep my PhysX card there)

Rob

PS - I don't care about the colors, you can't really see my motherboard's colors underneath all my kick-ass hardware.

You might want to fix the spelling then, cause I don't know what Jimmy is doing puking at a pack of crayons. Maybe he was in the pack?
