The issue is cost. I'm in residency, paying out the nose on my medical school loans. When you're 100K in the hole, you gots ta reign in the budget somewhere. Also, doesn't the i7 platform use DDR3?

How much future proofing do we need when we can update off of the early birds for 1/5th the original price. I can stand my gaming avg of 90FPS. It's when new games start bringing that avg down, I begin to sweat. Once we hit 40-50FPS it's time to fix something. (IE: I stick by that 60hz LCD principle)

Not many peopel actually get to see the Margin % on graphics card's today. But they are already so low that reseller's cannot make any money off of them, especially to customer's paying through paypal / Credit card's.

Having an extra GPU Manufacturer would just make it EVEN harder for everyone =(

The only thing preventing this from happening is windows, which will allow only one set of display drivers to be used.

Before I got my 4870x2, I asked nvidia if I could just use the physx drivers on my G92 GTS and have them operate solely as PPU's, and even that can't be done for some reason.
