You can't just buyout a company.... Especially if their investors think the value of the company will increase in the near future. There might be contracts with the VC firms or copyright transfer restrictions. BTW, Intel is one of the investors in Lucid.

which is why Intel has already invested in the company. and if they get exclusive on this you can start kissing AMD\Nvidia chipsets goodbye as far as CF/SLI goas.

Damn Lucid is annoying though I sent them my C.V... they havnt called back yet , and I wanted to be an "Inside source".

The whole point of CF and SLI is to sell more GPUs. Since both technologies are no longer chipset dependent, the profit is solely with the GPUs. This technology will only increase the demand for multiple GPUs.
Not to mention, linear scaling makes for a nice sales point.

So if this could scale to thousands of graphics cards, then CGI movies could theoretically, according to HYDRA developers, be processed in real time...

Yeah, suffice to say that I'll believe it when I see it.

so its kind of like what they are doing with ppu's. Except instead of using the second card for physics, I'd is actually helping pump out more power. Cool. Bet these boards won't be cheap.

It puts the lotion on its skin.

I think they will come in both embedded and add-in card solutions.. there's a paragraph or two in the article that talks about how the cards will be PCIe1.0 to start, but be able to output at PCIe2.0 bandwidths (don't ask me how)
