Most of the market has realized that ATI has the performance crown in every market segment. They are the fastest with Radeon 4870 X2, its 4870 is the best performance card supported by 4850 and in mainstream they are doing really well with Radeon 4650 cards and there is a big chance of success with the soon to launch Radeon 4550 and 4450 based on RV710 chips.


The complete roadmap is in ATI’s favour and we’ve learned that Nvidia cards, including many rebranded cards, are selling well but at the same time there is more demand for ATI products. To put it in right perspective there hasn’t been so much demand for ATI for years.

The red team is thrilled, they fulfilled their wildest dreams while Nvidia, and especially Nvidia partners are not so happy as Nvidia let this happen.

GT200 was supposed to bring the crown and so was the GTX+ based on G92b or Geforce 9500GT but in each of these segments Nvidia failed to take the performance crown from Radeon 4000 series.

We are sure that Nvidia is working on a solution that might fix this issue, but its highly likely that we won’t see any serious recovering for Nvidia by some point in 2009.

Great time to switch to nVidia

Oh well, I think I'm enjoying my 9800GTX+ more than I would an HD 4850.

The whole NVIDIA/ATI thing is just a big Yo-Yo. I think the market has a very short attention span IMO.

I read through the first few pages of Cyberdruid's "We are the Red Tide" thread, and there are some interesting posts becasue at the time, NVIDIA was on top. They where for quite a while. But before that, ATI was...

I for one, am just glad how well ati's 4800 series has done. It's keeping the markets more competitive, which means lower prices for everyone.

Exactly. Nvidia deserves a stomping to get their heads of their asses and stop over producing their cards (G92 anyone? Yea they only need 10+ refreshes of the same card just to get rid of excess stock) and make some WORTHWHILE IMPROVEMENTS.

Both companies really need to move forward because pressure is coming.. in the form of the largest processor company in the world in Big Blue, Intel.
