Very intriguing. Had these been the dual core's AMD released originally they may not have garnered such a bad standing over the last couple years. It comes a little late of course. But if they position this chip correctly, and push it to the people who have strict budgets (pick me pick me!) they could actually end up selling quite a few of these.

Impressive numbers compared to their old cores for stock speeds being that low.

I can't see this going head to head with the E8000 Wolfdales... that's the X3's spot. Perhaps against E7200 and below?

dual core ftw. I'd rather see em rolling out some faster dual cores than the slow quads. How messed though when all they could roll out was agena and toliman looks like they got alot of stock pilled up of kuma's so they call em athlons since 45nm is coming.

I don't think anyone is stating this chip will compete with an E8000. It's stock clock is 2.3 if nothing else. Even the review is smart enough to only compare it to existing AMD tech, on which they did improve quite a bit. So if you have an existing amd rig and don't want to start over, it's a good next step for hopefully cheap.

If the retail cores OC nearly as good as this one I'm surely getting one, new life for my AM2 mobo.

But will it still have the same step up factor when being used on an AM2 board? Do the HT3 and any other AM2+ differences make up part of the performance increase this chip has over previous dual cores, or at least help it?
