Default [NordicHardware] Alienware announces CrossFireX notebook

Quote:
Being a high-end system builder comes with a certain amount of expectations. Alienware has managed to astound us many times, and its latest creation, M17, is the first of its kind. It is based on AMD's very latest solution that enables CrossFireX support with Intel's Centrino 2 platform. In the ultimate rendition it sports some quite impressive performance, even when compared to a desktop, with an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 and dual ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870 cards under the hood.

Is it really old tech?

They have to create new tech to fit dual 8800GTX's into a laptop so its bound to take a bit more time

It's still pretty powerful, considering it's a laptop.

Mobile naming is often different from desktop chips.

The 8800GTX is a 90nm chip with 128SP and 384-bit bus.
The 8800M GTX is a 65nm chip with 96SP and 256-bit bus.

Yes, the mobile version is weaker... but MUCH more energy efficent. The 8800GTX uses more power than an entire laptop.

To answer most of your questions: (1) a fridge cannot cool a PC (2) 64-bit OS for over 3.4GB (3) If a PCIe card fits, it should work (4) Resolution, not screen size (5) If you have a question, it is not news (6) Report, not respond to Spam (7) Single-Rail/Non-Modular PSUs are not always better than Multi-Rail/Modular

Are you kidding me? This isn't Alienware at all... They usually overprice the heck out of everything but this time, they actually got it down right, and on a laptop too.
