Default [bit-tech] Winter 2008 Graphics Performance Update

Winter 2008 Graphics Performance Update

Quote:
There have been quite a few changes in the market over the last few weeks, as both AMD and Nvidia have released new drivers that promise some significant performance gains. This followed the release of a number of very high profile games, including Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 and Dead Space amongst others.

The question, therefore, that we're hoping to answer over the course of this article is whether or not our original recommendations have changed as a result of the new games being released. Before we get onto that though, it's worth having a quick recap on what's happened over the past few months, and what we're going to be doing very soon.

I like the chart, buy why cater to the $150+ market only? It would have been nice to have the 9800GT, HD4830, HD4670, and even 9600GSO to be thrown in there for comparison as well.

i can already see, from looking at the chart, one pretty big flaw with that comparison - they don't mention the GTX 260 216. given how much pressure it is putting on the GTX 280 and how long it has been in the market, it is a pretty big omission IMO.

nevertheless, that should make for an interesting read - Bit-Tech's articles are always top notch, just like HeXus'.

Other way around - they got the Core 216, they couldn't get a hold of the standard GTX 260.

Fun to know that my 60FPS+ 8800GTX SLi vs the 4870X2 is creepy close.

You've got one mean IGP though. I just got my roomate a similar setup to yours, with the Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H, X2 5000+ (non-BE), and 2x1GB of OCZ DDR2 800 RAM. It runs games pretty damn well all things considered.
