Still going with a 4870, dunno why, just seems like the better deal.

Two Crytek benchmarks and Fallout 3 (all of which favor Nvidia architecture) plus one legitimate COD4 bench (the one test where the 4870 won, coincidentally), doesn't impress me as a realistic representation of real world performance.

What else do you need, these are some of the most popular games being played today. The cards they are testing are arguably two of the most popular selling at the moment. how isn't that realistic?

Wow both cards performed quite equally in most of the games. Except for a couple that favored ATI or vice versa. I was amazed though how much of an increase Dead Space had with the GTX 260 over the 4870.

Nvidia has really been focusing on optimizing their drivers lately. It looks like that pushed them slightly over the 4870.

You make a fair point. I would still have liked to see other programs included, but I suppose I'm just a bit shocked at how fast Nvidia has responded.

Great review thanks for posting it. Nvidia adding a few more stream processors to the GTX260 seemed very desperate but it sure got the job done to stay competitive and beat the 4870 1GB in a few games.

You know, even though NV did win, the scores were nearly the same. We're talking 2-4FPS diffrence on those benchies, except for Dead Space. Fo3 performance was still close for the red team.
But if I had the cash, I'd choose two 4870 1GB's over two 260s.
