I fail to see the point in these replies. Cards like these ate essentially built for gaming, and if most games gamers play happen to be optimized for NVIDIA based cards, then clearly NVIDIA is the choice, when it still wind in the numbers of course.

![]() If you all hate TWIMTBP so much then tell ATI to start spending some darn money. The couple games that have been ATI 'favored' still were ran faster using Nvidia hardware anyway. No one complained about HL-2 Ep 2 having ATI all over it...and the GTX/ULTRA beat any ATI card performance wise in that game. If ATI wins a benchmark its because they are the saviors of the world, if Nvidia does its because they 'paid off'( ) the developer. Seriously, both cards are great, but the 260 is a cheaper, faster, cooler running, quieter buy regardless of who they 'pay' for TWIMTBP./rant

So the 216 is a redesign, a new GPU on an older card? Yes?

They did this to allow for a little better performance to get a good lead over the 4870. You mean the GTX? No they didn't do anything with the 280 as it already has all of its shader clusters active.

![]() Those clusters were shut off at the hardware level. Nice idea though.

Now having said that, I am not saying that Nvidia had an unfair advantage in those test. Just that developers tend to focus more on making the games run better on Nvidia cards vs ATI cards. That is why when ATI actually runs a game better than Nvidia, it is a much bigger deal than when Nvidia trounces ATI in a game. If the developers choose to optimize their games for Nvidia hardware and the games actually do run alot better on Nvidia cards, then I say get an Nvidia card. We just all need to remember why the GTX260's are now cheaper. It is because ATI stuck it to Nvidia with the introduction of the 4000 series. I got an ATI card because I had used Nvidia for 2 years straight and I started to miss having an ATI card. Plus, I wanted the better image quality to go along with my frame rates.
