Also about about the half life w/ ATI optimizations, its ancient game that you can get 100+ frames with 8x AA, i'm not pretty sure now no one now uses half life 2 as a refrance game for determining the better card.

and for the sake of the 4870x2 vs. GTX 260 arguement, 1 card vs. 2, 1 pci-express vs. 2. And i'm sure the Nvidia fan boys don't even like dual gpu's...

cheaper? depends what promotions are going on. Faster? by a tad but their pretty neck to neck. Cooler/quieter? thats a either or. 4870 can take the heat so they loosened the fan speed. Nvidia would rather have a cooler card though so they uped the fan speed for a cooler card, louder of course.

cuz when ATI wins, theres always some little thing you gotta nit pick that is made out of proportion, and when Nvidia wins its L33tzorz all the way.

so in the end, depends if you already have a crossfire/SLI board if you wanna do some future proofing. But building a new system? let the fan boy inside you decide whats best.
